eWOF Privacy and Security

Recently, the Motor Trade Association (MTA) sent out a message raising concerns about a digital WOF provider who may be forwarding completed checksheets to a third-party business without the customer’s consent. If accurate, that kind of data sharing could indeed breach the Privacy Act 2020.

But because the message didn’t name the business or explain the situation clearly, it has left workshops and customers wondering who to trust — especially when it comes to providers offering free eWOF tools.

To clear things up:

itsallauto.com is not the provider in question.

We built itsallauto.com because we run a garage ourselves — Grimmer Motors in Hamilton — and we know how important it is to protect your customer’s trust and data. We built our system from the ground up to comply with New Zealand’s privacy laws, and to be something we’d be happy using in our own workshop.

Built on Privacy and Trust

Our full Privacy Policy outlines exactly what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. In short:

  • We only collect data needed to complete the WOF inspection and manage workshop tools
  • We do not share, sell, or rent customer personal information
  • All data is encrypted, access-controlled, and stored securely
  • You can access or request deletion of data at any time

Free to Use – With No Hidden Agenda

Yes, our base eWOF platform is completely free. And we’re fully transparent about how that works:

We generate revenue through optional paid add-ons for workshops and context-aware, WOF failure item-based advertising, never through selling personal data. There will also be a paid Premium Version of our product to remove these targeted ads if you prefer not to see them.

What Kind of Advertising Do We Use?

We believe advertising can be useful,  if it’s done the right way.

For example, if a vehicle fails a WOF due to worn tyres, we might show you an ad for tyre “special deals” from a reputable tyre supplier in your area. Or if a shock absorber is failed, we might display a “special offer” from a nearby supplier of shock absorbers.

This is:

  • Based only on vehicle info, not customer names or contact details
  • Shown to the workshop, not the vehicle owner
  • Meant to support your workflow and make you more money — not interrupt or annoy you

We Hate Spammy, Cluttered Interfaces Too

Personally, I can’t stand websites that bombard you with pop-ups and irrelevant ads, making it hard to actually use the product. We’ve all experienced it — and we’ve made a promise:
We will never spam you, clutter the system, or put ads ahead of usability.itsallauto.com is designed to be clean, simple, and focused on helping your team work smarter.
