What the free training gives you
Our goal is to make WOF theory and practical training accessible to anyone, with a guided, simple-to-use system — free of cost. You get practice questions for cars, trailers and motorcycles. Miss one, and you can jump straight to the correct VIRM section so the rule sinks in right away. The mock NZTA exams mirror the look and feel of the real thing, so the first time you face that screen, you’re already settled.
The three theory training tools

1. Specific Area Quizzes — focus where it counts
Target one section at a time — like brakes, steering, or lighting — and only answer questions about that part of the vehicle. Each quiz is split into categories for cars, trailers and motorcycles, so the training stays relevant to real jobs. Ideal for filling knowledge gaps, repeating sections until they stick, and building confidence before full tests.
2. Full VIRM Question Bank — learn from a wide range
Access a large, varied selection of WOF theory questions from the VIRM, presented in the same style and tone as the actual NZTA exam. Go through them as many times as you like, at your own pace. Because the language is clear and consistent, it’s great for those still getting comfortable with written English.
3. Mock NZTA Exams — practice in exam format
When you’re ready to test yourself, sit full mock exams that follow the same structure and format as the real NZTA theory test. The questions are randomised, so you can’t just become familiar with the same set, and every attempt is saved automatically.
